DiVFix lets you watch partially downloaded DivX (AVI) movies. It can rebuild or strip the index part of the movie, which is at the end of the file. There are also a basic error detection, which can detect serious errors in the audio/video stream.

For some reason, this site's software didn't like some symbols I used in my review.
So here goes again the part re. the .reg file:

[folder] must indicate the folder where DivFix is stored. If in a subfolder, use \\ for hierarchy.

Small, free and it has worked for me just fine.

If you merge the following code (mine) into the Registry (WinXP), you'll get DivFix added to the right-click context menu on an .avi file.

As this little prog does adhere to Win standards (more than one can say for many others), choosing DivFix from the context immediately loads the .avi file, runs DivFix to add the index and exits, all nice and clean.

If you want to do a different operation, than run DivFix on its own.
